MINING
We have three mines located in the municipality of Chitaga called CHITA, ESMERALDA AND MOUNTAIN, the third mine located in the town of San Faustino called MAPORAL. Our mines are known for producing thermal and coking coals of ideal qualities, which allows us to deliver superior products to the market.
COKING
Our coking plant counts with 7 batteries consisting of 211 beehive ovens in total. The current installed capacity is approximately 100,000 Metric Tons of metallurgical coke per annum. 60% of our monthly consumption of 13,500 Metric Tons of coking coal comes from our own mining concessions, the rest is sourced from strategic mining partnerships within the region of Norte de Santander.
By the third quarter of 2023 we plan to increase our yearly coke production to 150,000 MT with the construction of 3 additional batteries containing 120 additional beehive ovens. Simultaneously, we will also increase efficiencies and production output in our own mines in order to cover 70% of our raw material feedstock.
TERMINAL
Barranquilla Port (port code: COBAQ) is Colombia’s biggest Caribbean seaport. It is situated on the Caribbean coast, 10 nautical miles upriver on the west bank of the Magdalena River. Each year about 870 vessels visit this port, among which around 51% are cargo vessels, 20% are dredging vessels, and 19% are tankers. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 200 meters. The maximum draught is 10.3 meters. The maximum deadweight is 64,000t.
